New plans coming in include demolishing some of the Stratford Centre, but opening up the square in order to provide more flats, with two new north and south towers and a new hotel.

Plans have been in the works for a while, but this recent re-think has got the ball rolling and the council believes works could start soon after the plans are agreed and approved.

Within the plans, Morgan House would be demolished, which is a 15 storey commercial block seen behind the centre, aswell as a few small buildings on the site. There will also be a rethink of the multi-storey car park.

The changes made to the centre include opening up the square in the middle and surrounding it with two tall residential towers to the north and south, containing about 500 new apartments between them, and there will also be a new hotel building capable of sleeping customers in 280 rooms.
